While watching the nascar banquet here at home in vegas they diplayed a note mentioned that hilly rife had passed.a name that had escaped me for over 50 years. A flood of memories immediately opened. Basically because while being born in york and being to Lincoln and Susquehanna many times because back in the 50's my dad, don graff was the starter at both tracks. So many memories. Bricker french fries, " it never rains at Susquehanna ".... AND so much more. I met hilly as a kid and remember him wrecking in the third turn at lincoln. Also his missing thumb made an indelible impression on me as a kid. Now I'm a 61 year "old fart " living in vegas enjoying all my past racing memories. Thanks hilly for another great memory. While researching the life of Marshall Teague, I ran across a video clip of Hilly talking bout Teague. I couldn't believe it. I was sports editor of the Naples Daily News in Florida for 31 years and even now still write a weekly racing column. I sure would love to come up and talk to Hilly some time!
